Why Not Appreciate Little Accomplishments

Updated: Apr 28, 2024

Why do we celebrate big milestones and achievements and inturn forget about our little wins? lThese little wins are the small steps that we take towards our bigger accomplishments. aking a brief moment to celebrate the little accomplishment- may not seem extraordinary but small things matter too.

I recall that in school I used to dread Math as a subject and it was my biggest fear to sit through a math class. I used to get anxious about solving a sum or taking a math exam. One day my teacher called on me to solve a sum in front of the class and I was terrified. With trembling feet I went and solved it, and solved it correctly. I was overjoyed to the core and that led to a whole day of celebrating my little accomplishment . As minute as an achievement it sounds, for me it was a day of being courageous. . The amount of happiness this brief achievement gave me made me realize that it is significantly important to acknowledge these little achievements. .

Small wins make you feel confident and keep you motivated towards the bigger goals. It acts as a positive feedback which indicates that you are going on the right track. Small victories means celebrating your positive habits. If you don’t celebrate your small victories you are simply rushing from one task to another which inturn makes you susceptible to exhaustion and demotivation. aHere are some ways through which we can celebrate our small wins:

1) Treat Yourself

Every victory deserves a reward whether it is small or big. You should treat yourself with the things that you love. It can be by doing skincare, watching a movie or even shopping.

2) Allow yourself to be excited

Yayy!! You are getting closer to your goal by taking small steps everyday. Let this thought ‘excite’ you. Don’t save your excitement up for the bigger victories just celebrate every positive step you take.

3) Share the excitement of small victories:

Be proud of yourself for what you accomplished and share it with your friends and family. This will motivate you to keep going and maybe on the way you inspire someone to celebrate thier small wins.

4) Enjoy your present:

Don’t always contemplate on your future goal or your past rather try and live in the moment that you are experiencing as these moments determine your future, so fill them up with joy and excitement.

5) Make a habit:

Always make a good habit that helps you stay motivated and prevents you from getting distracted.

6) Keep a gratitude journal:

Spend 10 to 15 minutes daily to write down what you feel grateful for. With this you will have a more optimistic mindset and you will start to notice those tiny hopeful things that you have in your life.

Acknowledge all of your small victories, they will eventually add up to something great!
